ilona andrews can do no wrong in my eyes! wildfire is flawless as far as sophomore books in fantasy series' go. nevada is a great narrator - she's knowledgeable and competent at her job, without sounding like a PI textbook. she's a badass b*tch, and an amazing big sister. her moral compass has become more grey since burn for me, and the evolution of her character feels natural given the cutthroat world of the primes.

likewise, rogan's character arc is great! andrews' commentary on the experiences of war veterans really shines through. additionally, they are experts at writing banter and sexual tension! nevada and rogan just have that jenny sank quan. these two make an excellent investigation team, as well as being lovers. the urban fantasy element of wildfire holds a weight equal to the romance. between the high-stakes action scenes, the twists and turns of house politics, and the engaging magic lore, the reader is truly spoilt for choice.

the plethora of side characters are just as compelling as our fmc and mmc! the baylor family are EVERYTHING!!! i love bug. even augustine makes me chuckle.

only time will tell whether i succumb to temptation, and binge read the rest of this incredible series...

I've been sucked in and am now racing through these books: the pacing and plot and character/relationship development have been consistently strong the whole way through. Immediately picking up the next book in the series.
