Neil Gaiman has presented a feast for everyone's imagination through this wonderful and diverse collection of stories, each course being served with elegance and awe. This book has stories about legends, myths, children fantasy, mysteries, aliens, horrors, and others so beautiful which only one's imagination can comprehend. Imagination is Neil Gaiman's power, his chisel and stone, and its importance is what his stories always seem to echo, even after we are done with them. Each story paints different worlds, different feelings, bringing magic into this realistic world of ours, only if we want to believe, or if we care to look. His stories almost always carry some darkness in their nature, which accentuate their beauty I would say. Combining this with his simple storytelling style, almost guardian like, renders this feeling of limitlessness in what is imaginable. A star less because of some stories/poems which I didn't find much interesting. But stories like 'October in the Chair', 'Other People', 'Harlequin Valentine', 'Goliath', 'How to Talk to Girls at Parties', to pick a few (out of the 31 works which this books contains), impeccably show his position as a contemporary genius in terms of wit and creativity. Looking forward to read his 'Anasi Boys' some time soon.

Some great short stories, occasionally stunning poetry and the last piece revisits a character from American Gods. All in all some great stuff.

I think the American gods novella at the end made it worth it. Also a few of the stories were fun

Stories that reflect imagination, alter egos, different dimensions.
Bonus for Christmas consuming the audiobook - having Neil Gaiman narrate his works.

This is the first Neil Gaiman book I've read. It's a interesting, eclectic collection of random stories and poems. Some are very short - only about a page. Some are excellent, mind-blowing, thought-provoking. Others are just so-so. Some are downright disturbing. I plan to read one of his novels soon, perhaps American Gods.

some really good stuff here. There are some unnecessarily awful stories but the good ones are REALLY good
