yet another book that really needs to explicitly state how MUCH of this book covers sexual assault and the PTSD that comes from being raped. Like this entire book is about coming to terms to being SA’d when you were a teenager and didn’t have a word for it yet. Even still, I enjoyed this book and had a good time reading it. This is just a PSA to anyone thinking of picking this up!

This was such a beautiful queer coming of age story. I loved the balance of humor and lightness with the heaviness of healing from trauma. Definitely one that leaves you feeling light and hopeful at the end.

First read of 2024!

Will be processing this one in therapy (thank god for therapy). Old Enough is the book I wish I’d had at 14, 17, 21… The queer validation I didn’t know I needed even as I am in my safe, happy, queer relationship. Tears were absolutely shed - over love, in mourning, and for the beauty of the expansiveness of queer identity and experience. Thank you for writing this book, Haley.

I was a child. I was just a little girl.

there’s something so captivating about haley jakobson’s writing. the back and forth from present and past and sav’s relationship with izzie is painful to read but it breathes a lot of life, and sav’s relationships with her new friends are a joy to read. a beautiful coming of age.

I swear it feels like parts of this book were just an interpolation of my life. It hurt and comforted me so much and for any white bi women who discovered themselves in college and felt like an impostor and was SAed it will hurt so much and just hug you at the same time. I’m older now and know myself better but god I wish I could have given this book to 20 year old me, they really could have used it <3
