I loved this book and think it would be a great thing to read every few Christmases. The author has a funny but intelligent style of writing and seeing as he was describing his childhood in Utah, it made me think a lot of my parents' childhoods. They have a lot in common.

Cute. Quick Christmas book. Reminds me of a Christmas story but neat that it takes place in bountiful, which is a town over from me!!

If you like Garrison Keillor and imagined him putting a story together that was a third The Sandlot, a third Lake Wobegon and a third A Christmas Story then you've got this book.

It was funny and charming, well written and a nice way to spend a couple hours.

Is it a five star book - no, not really. But my enjoyment of it was a five star experience so that's why it has five stars because, well, it's my review/rating.

Highly recommended.

Yes, tis the season, and it has been a few years. It was time to revisit this fun holiday story.

Second review: I couldn't help myself. I had to read this fun Christmas story again this year. My opinion hasn't changed from last year--this is still an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so, and if you want to laugh, you won't be disappointed.

Original review: This short, funny Christmas story was delightful to read. I loved recognizing places in Bountiful where the story is set, and the different references to the 60's when it takes place were great. Big thumbs up for this one.

This book was ok. It kind of reminded me of "A Christmas Story" which I'm not particularly fond of. The story is set in 1962 and is about a young boy whose family has moved from Arizona to Utah. Hence he is trying to make friends and fit in with the neighborhood boys. When the group of boys were discussing sledding down Mill Street and how difficult it was, Sam took on the challenge saying he could accomplish the task successfully although he had never seen snow before. I think this book was supposed to be humorous but I didn't find it all that funny. It was a very short, quick read which was a plus as I found it to be a little draggy and boring. Just not my kind of Christmas story!!!
