Breaking Through is the third book in the Carried Away series. While these books can easily be read as stand alone novels, the hero in all of these books are connected by being life long friends.

So far this book was my favorite in the series, only slightly behind the first book (The Deep End). We met the hero Simon in the first book, as the best friend of Jacques. I loved to watch Simon evolve as a character from the first book until the end of this one.

Simon is recovering after life sent him some curve balls, and Miranda is struggling to take care of her orphaned nephew with little help from her other sister. When Simon and Miranda bump into each other in an awkward bathroom moment, the sparks begin to fly. Miranda is only able to give Simon stolen nights of steamy pleasure, and he's okay with that. The steamy scenes are well spread out throughout the book, leaving a lot of room for Simon and Miranda's story to build.

This was an entertaining book that felt much longer than it was. The characters were well constructed with real flaws. So far I haven't been disappointed with any of A.M. Hartnett's books and this one was no exception.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions*
