Updated version of Warlord Wants Forever- still an enjoyable novella years later and makes me want to reread the IAD series…
Updated version of Warlord Wants Forever- still an enjoyable novella years later and makes me want to reread the IAD series…
2022 reread review: I know this is the first story so the world building is more fresh and less fleshed out but I'm wondering why Kresley didn't clarify how Myst can blood multiple males in the reissue. Also I knocked it back down from 4 stars to 3. Nikolai and Myst are a little tame / boring for me? Still an enjoyable read don't get me wrong. But I am dreading getting through the Wroth brothers
Avg rating ~ 4 stars.
The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole
Rating~ 4 stars
This is a reread for me since I love the IAD series, I end rereading few books an year. This is the book that started it all. Myst and Nikolai or Wroth as Myst prefers to call him story falls into enemies to lovers trope. The book is filled with passion, love, angst and betrayal. Anyone who loves pnr romance and havn't yet tired IAD should read this, it's a great start to an amazing series!
Forsaken by Night by Larissa Ione
Rating ~3.5 stars.
I love Larissa Ione's writing and her demonica/lords of deliverance series so it was no brainer to want to read this anthology which has 3 of my favourite pnr authors. I havn't read the new vampire series by Larissa Ione so this allowed me to get a glimpse of the series. I enjoyed this one quite a lot. If I was just rating the couple my rating would be a lot higher because they were cute and sweet. However, the secondary characters and from what we found out how the clan behaved towards Lobo when he was younger and then suddenly they were all being buddy buddy near the end made me feel annoyed. I did enjoy the world, mythology of the vampires and shifters is very interesting so I will be going back to read more of the series.
Dark Swan by Gena Showalter
Rating ~ 4.5 Stars
My favourite in the anthology. I read the Alien Huntress/Otherworld Assassins books years ago and I had wanted to read Dallas's book for that many years. It starts off where the last book in the series ended with Dallas and AIR looking for the Schon queen who is bent on infecting the world population with a STD like virus. I think to fully enjoy this one, the reader should atleast know the basics of the Alien Huntress series because without it, it would very difficult to understand fully of what is happening as well knowing more about Dallas because he has been present from the first book in the series.
Dallas while looking for the queen finds himself intrigued by the not quite human or alien Lilica, finding out that Lilica's connection to the queen might finally bring him closer to capturing the queen, he thinks he can use her but it's never that simple is it? Not with his burning attraction towards Lilica and the inconvenient caring she seems to have woken in him. I really liked Dallas and Lilica together. Their banter, hot hot chemistry made this my favourite book in the anthology. Lilica made a wonderful heroine, she is strong yet vulnerable when its comes to family and the people she cares about along with being a general badass-ary and her sassiness. Dallas was as always fun to read about. It was great going back to the Alien huntress world. I'm so excited that John will finally get his own as well. WOOP!!!
Overall, it was a great anthology and I enjoyed all of the books. I also really loved reading the interactions between the authors in the book. It made me laugh!

Blood Red Kiss is a paranormal anthology by Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, and Gena Showalter. What a fantastic read! Each story is unique and oh so good. It was a good mix of the paranormal. You have vampires, valkyries, and even shifters. Something for everyone!
Kresley Cole's remastered story "The Warlord Wants Forever,” was my favorite of the three. A beautiful and witty female and a strong rugged male made a for a perfect tale of against all odds love.
Larissa Ione’s, "Forsaken by Night,” is a vampire and shifter story. Loved the one too! A male vampire who goes against everything to save his precious wolf. Even if it meant getting killed.
Gena Showalter’s, “Dark Swan,” is an alien otherworld read. Very different read along with some interesting characters.
If you’re a fan of everything paranormal, then this book is for you! You’re in for a treat! I give this 5 stars!

Listen I love my girl Kresley!! Second story was okay, third was so bad I couldn’t be bothered to finish it. She mentioned how sexy his music note tattoo on his chest was which fully took me OUT. That needed an ex band kid trigger warning
Because good things always come in threes....
The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole - This is the first novel in Cole's wickedly popular Immortals After Dark Series. It has been revamped, and Cole said it flows smoother. Yep, I would concur. The tale flows beautifully, and I devoured it in a single sitting. Her world-building and creatures are wonderfully developed. In the front of the book, we are provided a list of terminology and explanation for the different types of supernatural creatures in the Immortals world. This story involves vampire Nikolai Wroth and an impish Valkyrie named Myst. I loved it from the torturous situation Myst left him in, to the heated love scenes and tender moments. When I closed The Warlord Wants Forever, I might have cursed Simon and Schuster for sending this to me, and Cole for writing such an addictive story that left me wanting to read the entire series. There are notes at the end from Cole where she answers fan questions, and it is here I discovered that Robert Petkoff narrates the series. This knowledge left me giddy. I know dear reader I have lived under a rock. My blogger friends have all told me to start this series. And yes, I grab the audiobook for A Hunger Like No Other book two in this 18+ book series. *Santa send me audio credits*
Forsaken by Night by Larissa Ione - Vampires that are skinwalkers or have special abilities made for an interesting read in this romantic tale. Forsaken by Night introduced me to the world and creatures in Ione's Moonbound Clan. We meet Lobo, a vampire with shifting abilities whose clan was wiped out, and lived among his captors until he was banned for shifting into the form of another vampire. He lives alone, not far from Moonbound. His solve company a beautiful female wolf. She is different, and he is not sure how but she hasn't aged. When she is injured, he risks his life to save her. The events that unfold had me slipping into the world as I became caught up the romance that followed. I am anxious to try more from this series. The way in which this was written allows for anyone to read it, even if they have never visited the MoonBound Clan series. For me, this was different from the Eternal Riders series. Lighter, but still filled with a complex, vivid world.
Dark Swan by Gena Showalter - This novella is from the Otherworld Assassins, a spinoff of the Alien Huntress novels. These stories take place in the same world. This was intense and heated. In this world, Aliens, the Supernatural, and others exist. The story focuses on Lilica Swan who is neither human nor is she an otherworlder. We are giving her background story and those of her sisters Jade and Trinity. Dallas Gutierrez is an agent for the AIR, Alien Investigation, and Removal Unit. He captures dangerous aliens and supernatural beings keeping the world safe for all sides. He has dreamed of Lilica and she of him. Both are trying to capture a dangerous Schon who also happens to be Trinity. Things get a little hinky when they unknowing bond. Dark Swan was deliciously heated, and I loved the banter, snark-filled romance, but it also delivered a suspenseful storyline that kept me riveted.

Blood Red Kiss is an anthology featuring stories from Kresley Cole, Larissa Ione, and Gena Showalter. For the purpose of this review, I will only being reviewing Gena Showalter's story Dark Swan as I have not read the other two stories as they are in this anthology.
Dark Swan is the long-awaited story featuring Dallas Gutierrez and his heroine Lilica Swan. It has been some time since Showalter's previous installment of the Alien Huntress series was released. And Dallas's story has been one I've been itching for since I first met him as Mia's partner in the very first book of this series.
This was an enjoyable story, and if you are a fan of the series I recommend reading it. However I did not love it. I didn't really feel the connection between Dallas and Lilica. I am not one to shame or ridicule insta-love as I have read and loved many of these types of stories. However, Showalter did not pull it off as well as I'd hoped for a character I felt was most deserving of an epic love.
The writing is great, and the story is fine, but I expected more from this author. Especially for a character that many fans of her Alien Huntress series have been dying to read. Again, I still recommend reading it, but do not expect the epic romances common in her Lords of the Underworld series or past Alien Huntress books, because you will be sorely disappointed.
This story does see an HEA and it continues to carry the narrative forward. To what end, I am unsure, as this series seems to be consistently put on the back-burner for new projects.

I love these authors so much, so when I heard about this book, I was jumping up and down excited! I was definitely not disappointed. All three stories were amazing. Suspenseful, sexy, entertaining and all around fun to read. I hope that they are able to work together again. I would love to read more like this.

The Warlord Wants Forever-
My first Kresley Cole and hot damn, not my last. If you like to mix your paranormal, then you will be in Valhalla.
Do not mistake you immortals! There will be hell to pay!
Valkyries
Vampires
Half-breeds
Demons
Ghouls
demi-gods
Forbearers..
oh my!
I definitely missed a few dozen mentioned breeds. But never before have I wanted to mix immortals like this story.
Steamy, erotic teasing doesn't begin to describe it but the storyline is incredibly intriguing. Especially the intense detailing of the Lore and each background, I can't wait to see the follow up for this new series.
Forsaken by Night-
Yummy! I am seriously rethinking my stance on loving all equally...because who doesn't lust after a vampire. But then a skinwalker or shifter, oh yeah!
I am a virgin to all three of these authors and it's obvious that that was a huge mistake on my part!
Lobo was thrown out of the only "home" (and I use that term loosely) he ever knew. He has lived in isolation and loneliness until he found Tehya.
Tehya has made his life more than just existing. But he longs for more...The woman in his dreams...A life...A future...
All of which he knows he can't have. He's content, well more like resigned, to the life he has- as long as Tehya is by his side. When her safety is compromised, he does everything in his power to save her even at the cost of his own life...
Things don't always work out the way we plan and Lobo's plan sure does backfire!
But you really need to read it to find out how...
Dark Swan-
Don't roll your eyes at the aliens! Aliens are friends not food!?! No, um, it's...To Serve Man. Not it either.
Ok, enough bad jokes.
There once were three sisters. Each was treated differently. One was dotted on, given beautiful things, and generally adored. The second was considered the control for the experiment. The third was treated cruelly as less than, told she was evil and ugly. The girls were aware of the tests and yet they couldn't fight them entirely.
The story that unfolds in these pages is heart squeezing. It is sad. It's a depressing history but make no mistake- they will get revenge.
Used as lab rats, created for that very purpose, the girls each adjust to their powers and situations. Until it's no longer a possibility. Trinity, the much loved, is no longer everyone's darling. She is the cause of some terrible things. Lilica, the evil one, will do anything to help her- not in her cause but to make her better.
What starts out as a rescue mission may well end up in a murder. The real question is how many will go down with her?
Are you one of those people who rolls their eyes at alien romance? Do you look at the word alien and cringe? I do. It's unintentional. For some reason, despite countless hours watching all the Star Treks and Star Wars, thinking about alien romance makes me think- bleh. I have read tons and love them. But I always get the same reaction, well, not any more. I will be scrambling to find the others in this series. I can't wait to see the other blooming connections from this book.
Trying to hide my smirk because Dallas should definitely be left to me. You can't handle him nearly as well as me- just FYI. Silica may have him wrapped in her tight fist...but that man is mine!
