Loved the atmosphere, not enough happened. Will continue but this could have just been combined with the next book.

I love Stephen King, I really do. Thus far anything I've read of his has been engaging and filled with wonderful, vibrant characters. So I picked up The Dark Tower expecting the same.
I can describe TDT in one word: vague. The characters are vague, the backstory is vague, the motivation is vague, even the setting/time is rather vague. I honestly could not tell you what on earth was going on for the better part of the story. Even so, I always enjoy King's prose—simple yet complex.

This was such a great book in terms of its mystery and world building. Although the story left a bit to be desired, King's haphazard and whimsical writing style was uniquely entertaining. I'm excited for more.

An interesting premise, but marred by moral ambiguity and the typical King vulgarity, despite the high technical skill of the writer himself.

I never finished this series, but loved the first three.
