This whole series is just so good. A worthy finale that keeps you guessing and pulls all your heartstrings until the very last page.

I cried. From page 1. Throughout the whole book. Even when I wasn't reading.
I do not cry from romance. I cry from the death of loved characters.. from the pain of being unloved (Hi there Jacks, Cardan, Kaden...) But romance? Nah....
But this? I'm sorry but it is sooo clear that Mary is not a 20 year old author, she knows different kinds of heartaches so we'll, it clearly makes a difference in writing.

This was such a good conclusion to the series. The pacing in this book was so much better! Definitely held me captivated to the end - I just really needed to know how everything went down!
The romance was very sweet in this book. There were some moments when I wanted to hit one of them in the head for the decisions they were making and scream at them that that wasn’t how a healthy relationship functioned, but Mary E. Pearson did a good job showcasing the growth of the relationship so that their ending was that much sweeter.
Like I already mentioned, the pacing was so much better this time. There was quite a bit of action that went down, and I found myself getting choked up over the fate of certain characters. I was finally able to really connect with them.
There were a few moments that seemed like a stretch to me - certain characters sharing their backstories and all was easily explained, or how the final battle was concluded - some of it just seemed too easy? But I guess with the end of the series, things can sometimes just be cleaned up nicely for the readers.
Overall, I think this was a great conclusion to the series. I was really proud of how Lia how grown as a leader throughout all of the books, and her ending was exactly what it needed to be, which is how a good book should end.
