I almost gave up with reading more of these after the last volume, but something told me to keep with it. And, I'm really glad that I did because I enjoyed this one tons more than the previous issues. There was a lot of that emotion I was looking for, a little more understanding as to what some of the craziness is, and much needed interactions.

I have to say I felt a lot of the despair the revived were going through, seeing the little girl in this issue struggling with staying in the world. It brought so much of what I was looking for when I first picked up this series. I can also see the struggle Em's character is having with being what she is now, making it work for herself, but believe me when I say it's also a pain because she's definitely interfering with everyone's peace.

I'm going to continue reading this, until the very end when it's all finally resolved. Even, if I find some issues, or swaying in the wrong direction. Because, then an issue like this one comes along and it reels me back in and makes it worth the read. I've got to add also, all the mix of supernatural and sci-fi type feels is really the biggest part keeping me still here. Really good mix.

The creepy gothic horror that is Revival continues in what could be a perfect read for a night of Halloween. The creators masterfully combine and balance between everyday rural life scenes and those strips of gory madness.

I love this take on the dead coming back to life but not necessarily eating the living - at least not yet. Who killed Martha? I can't wait until the next volume!! Great read for fans of The Walking Dead and Fables graphic novels. It seems like a perfect combination of both to me.

Apart from [a:Brian K. Vaughan|24514|Brian K. Vaughan|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1557530189p2/24514.jpg]'s material, and most of [a:Jonathan Hickman|356424|Jonathan Hickman|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1356400161p2/356424.jpg]'s, many Image titles, even ones that I enjoy, feel like they don't know where they're going or how long they're going to take to get there. This is not the case with Revival. While I feel like it could have been an Ongoing Until The Author Loses Interest, instead Seeley had a focused story and knew how to pace it for maximum effectiveness.

While the last volume brought some secondary characters into the mix, this story is mainly focused on the protagonist families and the reporter who originaly broke the story. It doesn't reveal twists so much as subvert emotional tropes.

I don't often write about art unless it's spectacular, as I'm not as well-versed in it as I am in storytelling. But Norton's art is an important part of this series. It's not breaking any rules or new ground, he's just Very Good at facial expressions, knowing when to break panels, and putting in details that are fun little Easter eggs but don't detract from the story. I've seen him do some five star art before, but I think it's important that for this story he has the most consistent four star work I've ever noticed. It really is perfect for this story.

I recommend this for fans of weird rural character study programs like Picket Fences, Northern Exposure, or Twin Peaks.

3.5/5 - I feel like the story is developing more and at the end of this one I was eager to start the next volume to see how it continues on.
