Like many other reviews of the book, this review is merely an excuse to quote the poetry:

"Winter is not yet gone
And Apple trees appears
Suddenly changed
Into a cascade of fragrant stars.

In the night we shall go in
Up to its trembling firmament,
And your hands and mine
Will steal the stars."

I've been trying to read books that are outside my go-to genres such as poetry. I was not expecting a lot since I am not into poetry but man oh man, Neruda knows all the right words.

“from the rupture
that was breaking our hearts
we came forth clean again, naked,
loving each other
without dream, without sand,
complete and radiant,
sealed by fire.”

absolutely lovely but hasn't made me feel enough, i think it has to do with the translation.

Bought at a store in the Mission in SF two weeks ago. Horrible translation with maybe two great poems and some other mid works. Still, cute edition and “in you the earth” still has to be the best erotic poem that never falters into grossness - that and the opening poem from “20 poems of love and one lament.” There’s also a good one in here about an island and her being a little leaf on his chest. That one got me too.

These were very cute love poems😭I love hearing people talk about the people they love fr and the many words you can use to express it for them and others to hear

Romantic slightly cloying poetic Volume..I love Pablo Neruda writing but I got abit bugged down in all the comparisons of women to fruit and wanting to eat them up... Maybe it was the translator, just ok, got a bit repetitive the way the collection was organized
