The characters are nice. The setting is nice. The plot is nice. There's nothing wrong with this at all. I even really enjoyed some of the clever bits at the end. But it also isn't one I'll read again and again or remember much of the plot and characters later. If it weren't by Natalie Babbitt, it would be almost entirely forgettable. But it is still well worth reading for fans of Natalie Babbitt.
