  • An ungodly amount of sex scenes (would it be so hard to market these kinds of books as erotic romance? I'm just saying that was A LOT and I would've liked a warning)
  • The blackmail. I do not care if this is a spoiler, I think everyone who thinks about reading this book should know about it. You could smell it coming from a mile away (=not skillfully interwoven into the story so that there's still a mystery around it and so that I won't think the characters are grade a stupid). The climax/ conflict that ensues (third act breakup) could've EASILY been avoided but alas the author just HAD to make me hate the characters and the book. So.
  • Let's get back to the erotic romance point. What if some of the side plot was shortened and the author actually chose to focus on the stupid/ cringe factor and the erotic aspect? I feel like this shouldn't have been a rom-com (in the pure sense), and if the book knew not to take itself so serious (which I felt was a problem here, like there was little self awareness of how dumb and cringe this shit actually was) it could've been better.

The story was alright. Not a lot of depth to it. The whole concept of shifters, alphas and omegas is a bit unclear. I don't think certain aspects of their biology is fully explain, so I often don't understand the why of things. I feel like the author expects you to have background knowledge on these concepts instead of building them herself. The third act could have been entirely avoided had someone been willing to communicate.

At first I was like “fake dating but make it omegaverse? Sign me up!” but it was just meh.

The third act breakup and the fucking miscommunication are driving me CRAZY. Don’t they (the authors) know how to get to the ending of a book without it??? Also, was it necessary to always put such emphasis on their goddamb scent? We get it…. Started great, went downhill and I got bored real quick at about 60%.

To be fair, I don't usually read Omegaverse stuff, so that was on me.  But I like the fake relationship trope and all my apps were pushing this one at me as a suggestion, so I gave it a try. It was ok, but honestly, I just didn't love it.

I enjoyed the book. I liked having both Mackenzie and Noah’s perspective.

This one is a weirdly funny book. I did not expect the werewolf... things (
alpha/omega superstitions, heat cycles, and knotting
)... to go that far. After I got over that surprise, the book offered me a solid and fun reading experience. Although, the
the third act breakup
felt somewhat hasty with the lack of communication during it, especially as even just a little more open communication could have helped skip the whole thing and bring the plot to the same conclusion in a happier way.

Cute grumpy/sunshine couple I love to root for. Fun Omegaverse shenanigans and spicy sex scenes. Easy happy ending. Strong-willed female protagonist.
What's not to like, especially after a long reading slump?
