a thief and a police chief

It was okay. If you are a big fan of fated mates and where everything falls together with little friction, this is for you. I think a longer and more flushed out story would have been better for me. The best part was the FMC holding out and teasing the MMC. The tension of their animals and the repartee between them before marking each other was the best part and I wish it could have been dragged out more.

I really enjoyed reading this story. In the last book of the Ski Bears we get to meet Zoe, Corey's sister, at the very end. She is the heroine in this story. Zoe has gotten herself into some trouble and she is trying to get herself out of it, without anyone knowing. She steals some jewels to pay off her debt and just wants everything to be done. She has finally found somewhere she likes and wants to call home, along with something that she really enjoys doing. At a time when all she wants is for things to over and finally normal she signs up for mate.com and is matched to Rollo, the chief of police. She tries to take it back for a time, she doesn't want to start something before her debt is paid. Rollo and Zoe meet anyways during his investigation into the jewel theft. It makes Rollo suspicious of the circumstances with Zoe but he just wants to help her. He knows there is more to it and is determined to get his mate and figure it all out.
I really enjoyed the way that this story was done. We get Rollo and Zoe in a hard situation and yet they both handle it pretty well and build their relationship at the same time. Their connection as mates, and how deep it goes, definitely helps matters. They can feel the heart of the other person and so it gives them an extra hand up on figuring things out. The sex is explicit and there's quite a bit of sexual tension as well. I liked the pacing of the story. It was a pretty quick read for me but the pacing didn't seem rushed. Meeting the rest of Bear Patrol and getting their stories is going to be fun.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
