Beautiful art, but the story didn’t quite work for me. It felt incomplete in its story telling and overall I think it need just a bit more time to explore the characters and to truly pull off the ending.

As always Carroll's art is so beautiful and creepy. I love knights and dragons so of course I loved that the protagonist dreams of themself as a beautiful knight, slaying dragons and saving the princess (and the art in these dream sequences are breathtaking).  Unfortunately, the ending felt a bit too quick - though I can see the narrative purpose of it, I would have liked more time in the story so the ending had felt more impactful.

This book was beautifully chilling. It drew me in and left me changed. Stunningly well done.

The art was beautiful and haunting, though I have to say I think I'll have to read it a few more times to really understand the plot. I want to say that the ending was disappointing, but I think I just haven't really digested it yet. Such a compelling ride up until that abrupt stop and wow! I will be thinking about her for a long time.

I feel like Emily Carroll is well versed in writing these kinds of endings which are infuriatingly confusing. Infuriatingly, because they fit the feeling of estrangement, yearning and sad fear so damn well.

Horrifying and beautiful. Horrifyingly beautiful? Or maybe beautifully horrifying. Had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I really liked the creativity with text and actually utilizing the comic panel form to add to the story.
