4 ⭐️ because i thought due to the title there would be more focus on mona and shirin! but alas it focused more on peri and some on shirin and even less on mona. peri’s spiritual dilemma was so relatable, the way elif shafak writes her female character w so much complexity and nuance. it’s brilliant! the ending felt a little rushed. i seriously thought azur and peri had an affair! but it was shirin and azur….. wowww really. the ending!!!! open endings are absolutely atrocious when done by someone other than elif shafak and jhumpa lahiri! also where is the explanation for her suicide attempt?! i want to read this again.
