One of the few times I’ve been glad that I saw the movie before reading the book, otherwise I would’ve been hopelessly lost by the writing style, but this is a great read

I don't know if I liked it considering it was an all around uncomfortable and infuriating experience, but that's a lot of why I rated it high. It's a great piece of art. I'm so pissed.

This has one of the most unique voices I’ve read and captures Gen X ‘90s angst most poetically. The screenwriter lifted whole scenes and the best lines from the book - ‘you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake’ and ‘I am Joe’s …’

There’s a lot of repeated lines that get inserted into paragraphs randomly and if you’ve ever had insomnia and anxiety then you may relate to the unnamed narrator.

As a fan of the film, I knew the main plot, but the film was not a carbon copy of the book’s story, especially towards the end. I book was sadder if that was possible, and he revealed much more to the Marla character than what happened in the film.

The main thing I didn’t like was the descriptions of his unhealing hole in his cheek.

It’s a short read and a wild ride.
