Finding Dandelion by Lex Martin

I really wanted to give this book a higher rating but I just couldn't. So, for those who are wondering about the two stars, let's list the faults:

1. The first 10-15 chapters sucked! They were badly written, really rusty, and I honestly think that all the stuff in those chapters could be fit into 5 chapters. Especially Jax's POV, which was, frankly, horrible in the beginning. Guys don't talk, or think, like that! I'm not a guy and even I know that. It's not that guys can be sluts because we all know they can, but Jax's thought process was so bland. I wrote this in the review of the previous book, and I'll write it again, it felt like I was reading something by an ammeteur Wattpad writer who's figuring stuff out.

2. What the fuck is up with the hashtags?!

I just don't understand it. It's not like Dani is obsessed with twitter or Instagram or even Tumblr. In fact, I don't even remember any talk about social websites and applications. She even texts less than Clem. If this was another way to modernize the book and the characters, it was pathetic. It wasn't as bad as the random 'Slut' and 'Whore' like in the last book, but it was still bad because there was no reason for it to exist.

3. Lex Martin seems to have a habit of starting books really crappily, and then improving them step by step. It happened with the previous one which, I said, would have gotten 4 stars if it weren't for that STUPID mistake. The same thing happened with this one. Except, instead of getting better after 4-5 chaapters, this book had really slow progress. Also, where the others book was brilliant by the end, this one didn't improve all that much.

4. It is so fucking similar to 'Dearest Clementine'!

I swear to god, it had the same issue and story moves exactly the same way. Both stories had a character with a backstory which became the reason behind the incredibly predictable fallout. And the problem, in the end, turned out to be the same- lack of communication! I mean, fuck! When you find something out about your significant other, you talk about it! You don't run! And I almost understood it with the previous book, but to do the same thing again? Either the writer has a one-track mind, or was just running out of ideas. Because if this was a case of 'I wrote a book, It was a hit. Let's write a sequel!' then please stop. That what happened with Twilight. And even though this book is a dozen times better, the fact that Twilight was mentioned in the review should be insulting enough.

5. Like I said, it was took similar to the previous book which was why, I fast forwarded from the 70% to 87% point. There was, honestly, nothing there that was important enough and I just wanted to get this thing over with. It wasn't the kind of book that I would want to savour by reading it in a week or the kind that I loved so much that I read with full attention and concentration until it was finished. I finished this in six hours (and I'm not that fast a reader). I did it in one sitting and many times, I had to force myself not to skip to the end and just sleep, since I read it between 11:30 pm to 5:30 am.

6. This book, like the previous one, had so much potential. It makes me really sad to know that Jax and dani, who are both brilliant characters, never got the perfect story they deserved.

I felt as if the writing was half-hearted and unedited. This book was longer than it should have been and many parts of it could have done well with a rewrite.
On the plus side, I did finish it, so that something, right?

Note for the author: I don't know if you will read this and if you do, I doubt you would care because I'm just one reader out of thousands, but I would like to say that you're a good writer and you have great characters with touching backstories and they're actually really interesting. The story with Clem's book was good but with this one, it was repeated. I know you explained why Jax did what he did at the end of chapter 30, but it wasn't as explanatory as you'd think. The reason needed some polishing.
Also, you really need to proof-read these things more carefully and edit them more. So, I don't know if 'Kissing Madeline' is still being edited or if it's already gone ahead for publishing but, if it's not finalized, give it a read...

I will probably read the next one as well and I'm hoping it'll be better...

I received this book in exchange for an honest reveiw.

I'm not sure what I can add that everyone has not said already. I love books that can make me feel a variety of emotions, and this one did, definitely. I was annoyed with Jax for being such a douche. I loved Dani and her attitude, her outlook on life, her ability to keep going when stuff hits the fan, and her bravery. Even though this is part of a series, everything you need to know is contained in this novel. It drives you to keep reading and get through as quickly as possible. The romance between Jax and Dani grabs you by the heart and squeezes up to the end. If you like NA, you'll like this book.

I enjoyed this one even though I wish they'd got together sooner and had some plot devoted to them being together. Ah well. Still fun.

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars
Dani and Jax had really good chemistry and I'm happy they were able to pull their heads put of their asses so they could have a happily ever after together. I found most of it a little irritating. I can't really respect a girl that will marry someone only because they are "stable". That's just as bad as marry someone for money in my book. It still had some pretty good parts though, I guess.

Ugh I'm so conflicted! I wanted to like this more than I did but it just fell short for me. I liked Jax and Dani, but there were a lot of plot flaws. The biggest one is how Dani spend nearly half the book pining over Jax before they finally become friends and start hanging out. It seemed like a lot of wasted time. Like we get it, he doesn't remember you, it didn't need to take so long before they bonded. Time also passed awkwardly. I just felt rushed and it needed more time with Jax and Dani. They barely hung about before BOOM everything went to crap.

I could maybe go up to a 2.4 on Finding Dandelion, but I don't think I could go anymore. I will still be checking out #3 when it comes out.
