I truly wish that I could get more people to give this author and series a chance. A wonderful balance of mystery, historical fiction, and fantasy, this final installment in the chronicles proved to be as addictive and the characters as endearing as all the others.

Lots of pre-American Revolution Boston (but not very far pre- ), has the actual historical events with the spellcasting thief taker in the background casting spells and getting in trouble. Interesting magic system although it is a little mechanical feeling sometimes and the characters are well done.

This is a fantasy alternative history series that has two premises, in the US (as opposed to Britain), there were private detectives that tracked down stolen property and there's magic. Other than that a nice dose of revolutionary Boston. Read them in order and enjoy.
