Firstly, I love this series. Secondly, I think Diem needs to learn to STOP AND THINK! Our loveable highly empathetic FMC gets some wild upgrades and the stakes get very high. There is a lot more world building and exploring. We meet some cool new characters and visit some annoying returning characters.

I will say though it was overall an enjoyable read, there is some very poor decision making in this book and it makes you want to yell at the pages. Lets say Diem is very reactive and not very reflective and it gets very very frustrating
because she self sabotages SO MUCH and puts everyone she loves in even more unnecessary danger. Not to mention Luther keeping completely unnecessary secrets for way longer than necessary

Speaking to the romance part of this romantasy, this puts the slow in slow burn.
It is nice seeing Luther and Diem together but damn we literally have to wait until the very end for some proper 🌶️🔥 action

Finally in true Penn Cole fashion, the ending is hot drama! I can’t believe Heat is being delayed because I NEED IT NOW!!

This book dragged. Enjoyed the overall story but it was repetitive to read the same moral dilemmas over and over again. And it was obvious why the MMC was pushing the FMC away in the first half (third?) of the book and the resolution took too long to get to. I’m all about the slow burn but this was too long.

I think this is my new favourite fantasy series ever even if I liked the first two books better.
