A good little book about a sheep who goes on a hunt for the ‘Lost Treasure of Frogsbottom’. It would be really useful in supporting children’s use of prepositional language in Numeracy and Literacy. Children could use this as a framework for writing their own storyboards where their character goes on an adventure somewhere, using prepositional language. We could also bring in photos from home, like the ones Russell takes of his family, and do some cross-curricular work with History to try and work out the time period, event, age of the people etc. After that, the photographs could be used as a starting point for story writing. We’d take our own class photographs and create a display to show how we’re all valued and friends with each other.

The illustrations are beautiful and really draw the reader into the story. The story itself is a little lacking. It's cute, but unfulfilling.

I enjoyed this one. Russell searches for a treasure and discovers something much more special.

I just love Russell. I know, I’ve said it before, but I do! This time he is on the hunt for the long lost treasure of Frogsbottom. When his treasure finding machines beeps, Russell finds less, and more than he was seeking. I love the heart that Russell has. His ability to find the good in any situation.
