Not to sound like a tool but it really takes one to know one when it comes to surfing, and this guys gets it. I feel like this book is really directed at surfers and only surfers, because everything is in different jargon and “totally gnarly” isn’t something we say completely ironically. There’s a wonder for the world in this book, especially the marine and seafaring world. The perspective is very white and very male. I still really enjoyed it. It also takes place in Santa Cruz, which holds a special place in my heart.

Caught Inside by Daniel Duane
A Surfer spends a year In Santa Cruz, CA coast surfing. Local wildlife and how surfing works, water dynamics and the board itself.
Real life stories of when he is on the board, in the ocean and what creatures approach.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I don't surf, but I do love being by (and going in) the ocean, and I know this book is going to make me want to move to Santa Cruz.

Update: Not bad. Felt like it started off strong and then got a little dull.
