I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand it wasn't that bad — only not my cup of tea, but that’s it.
But then, on the other, there is that frivolous humor and that privileged life, and still a constant complain. No.
Dear Sanna, I understand that life isn’t that easy for you, but try to think one minute - one - about all these poor Jews, that are discriminated. I know that the book was written in 1937 and that the author couldn’t know a lot about the real situation of the Jews, but the characters seem to know enough and still they made bad jokes about “how many Jews has the Führer smelt”. No, no. Please, I understand you need to laugh at it, but NO. And the looong monologues of the journalist? So boring. And hypocrite.
I think it would have been a lot more interesting if Sanna and Franz faced a life as migrants. But no. Actually, the book finish when something finally starts to happen — I was so disappointed :(((
