This is the first book of Marie Ndiaye that I read and I was not a fan. I didn’t find it great nor totally bad. I didn’t like the writing style and was not captured in the story. I didn’t like the main character, which I found quite passive in her life and what’s happening around her, and from there it’s then hard for me to appreciate a book.
