An extra star for not making me suffer too much before finishing the book. Hero sucks. Heroine also sucks. Has no backbone and randomly gets one in the last chapter after being

The Boss (Managing the Bosses #1) by Lexy Timms – Her family is so freaking toxic her brand new boss feels compelled to step in on multiple occasions, so I have no doubt he has his own family drama that we will discover in the next book! A fast and fun office romance so far! Happy Reading!

First off, I hated this girls family so freaking much. They were the absolute worst for fat-shaming her and making her feel less than she was. She was part of the family even if they didn't want her to be. Completely heartless and selfish people that didn't deserve Jamie one freaking bit. Then to top it all off, her ex-boyfriend was beyond sleazy and I hated him too. Almost equally to her family because he was a douche canoe throughout the book.

That being said, Jamie is done with love and men. She wants no part of it because of what has happened to her. It also doesn't help that her own family keeps degrading her right and left. I mean, I would've throat punched anyone in my family if they told me I had to quit my job because it was taking me away from my maid of honor duties. Are you shitting me? It's not even a real job so please calm your tits sweetheart.

I also hated how they continually judged Jamie on her wait. No matter how hard she tried to lose it or diet, they still made nasty comments. I was so proud of her when she just started to work out for her. Screw your horrible family and do you boo boo.

Then there's Alex. God, he has caused so much whiplash that I don't know what to think about him or them right now.

I was given this book by Hurricane Readers Book Reviews in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to start by saying I really liked Jamie, but I hated the way she let me family treat her. I understand family loyalty and all that jazz but letting them walk all over her and treat her like shit, made Jamie seem a bit weak. I hope in the books to come as she starts to realise her self worth, she won't take it anymore and fight back.
I can't really say much about Alex because I couldn't really get a feel for him yet, hopefully that will change in the next book as we get to know him better.

I really liked Lexy Timms writing style, I'm not really a big fan of books written in the third person but this one worked for me.

I did really enjoy this first book, but my, what a dysfunctional family i don't know how Jaime is so normal, if i was her i think i would be telling everyone to do one by now. Loved Jaime and Alex i can see the chemistry she is a true damsel in distress and Alex feels protective of her. A nice quick read!

Reread still a great read with brill audio

This is the start of a series and is short but lots happens. Jamie should really hate her sister and her whole family for the way they treat her but for some reason she loves them and values their opinions. Her ex is a douche and think he and Jamie's sister deserve each other. Alex is a knight in shining amour, he just doesn't want to admit it. I look forward to see what happens next.

The family is a caricature—terrible and not understandably so. They ruined the book.

Page 91: "I'm not sure if I've ever seen family members as vicious and vile as yours are."
