Somehow this one was infuriating enough to give me a storyline nightmare. Literary nightmare perhaps? Either way I woke up feeling emotionally drained.

It was frustrating to not be able to reach in and slap Sabine. I mean seriously, what a witch! She doesn't have any good qualities, she's just a homewrecker. Nash should've told her to eff off the moment she arrived, Kaylee is right to be suspicious of her shady bitchiness. The whole thing could've been avoided if he had been smart but nooo. Had to pull out the "she's my friend now" bs.

I do see where the love interest story is going, it's obvious. But when will it happen? Hopefully soon so Rachel Vincent can stop dragging me through the mud. I guess I'll have to read the next book to find out lol.

My Review:

Ah, the Soul Screamers series. What love I have for Rachel’s books. It’s getting harder and harder to write reviews for them. It really is. Each book just keeps getting better and better. So much is happening with this series, and I just keep falling more and more in love.

And My Soul to Steal is no different. It is another wonderful book, in a wonderful series. I can never wait to jump into the next book. Be swept away into the world that Rachel has created.

“Whoever said it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved was full of crap.”

Demon’s Breath is no longer taking innocent lives, it’s out of the human world. All thanks to Kaylee, Tod, Nash and friends.

But now things are even more different for Kaylee. Her once secure, and as normal as it can get world, is changed. With Nash trying to overcome his addiction to Demon’s Breath and Kaylee trying to overcome his betrayal to her, she is trying to put her life back together.

Nash did something Kaylee just can’t forgive and forget. Their love hangs on the point of a knife, and Nash is trying to gain Kaylee’s trust back.

But that isn’t easy, with things still shaky and unstable between them, and just when Kaylee feels things might be getting better, someone from Nash’s past comes back. And she has plans of her own.

Sabine, Nash’s ex, has apparently been longing for the day she would find him again. Now that she has, she’s not going to back down. She is Nash’s soul mate, or so she says.

This puts Kaylee right where she and Nash first were, untrusted and unsure.

Kaylee thought Sabine appearing out of nowhere was bad enough, but apparently something is a 'little' different about her.
Then, of course, something is once again happening at school. Something that Kaylee can’t escape. Hellions just can’t seem to leave her alone.

“Unfortunately, what my head wanted and what my heart wanted were two completely different things.”

Two weeks have passed since the event of the last book, and poor Kaylee is trying to come to terms with what happened. How Nash hurt her. Kaylee has a lot on her plate, she never expected Nash to do what he did. Even though he is supposedly better, no longer on Demon’s Breath, she’s finding it hard to trust him. And she can tell, Nash isn't the same. His addiction was strong, and it has definitely changed him. She begins questioning just how much he loves her, and if he truly does. Everything seems to way heavy on her, along with her feelings of guilt. She’s struggling with if it's best to let Nash go, or stay with him.

Then just when things seem to be going somewhat, near okay, a certain person shows up and she seems to really, like really, know Nash. Sabine, Nash’s ex-girlfriend makes an appearance. And she isn't there to play nice. Especially not with Kaylee. Nash says he doesn’t love her anymore, she is just a good friend, but with all the time he spends with her, it has Kaylee questioning the love Nash supposedly has for her. And to make Kaylee feel even more awesome, Sabine challenges Kaylee for Nash’s love. However, people are dropping dead once again at Kaylee’s school, and just when Sabine showed up. Something is going one, Kaylee knows it.

My Soul to Steal, is a whirlwind of a book. So much is going on that I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. All the old characters are back, Kaylee, Nash and my favorite, Tod. Along with some new faces. I thought I wouldn’t see a lot of character growth in this book, but I actually did. Kaylee, she’s just so strong, a girl who knows how to fight. Not back down. With everything that is happening with Nash, Sabine and the deaths at school, she knows when to put her head first and her heart later. But she is still a teenage girl, so you can really feel how she struggles to overcome everything that happened in the last book. She is very conflicted. And you can really feel that. Tod, wonder, awesome Tod is even more in this book, thank you Rachel for that! He really is getting closer to Kaylee, being there for her when she needs someone, and to give her advice, even when it isn't something she wants to hear. Like Kaylee, I can feel and see just how much Tod is growing as a character. And we get to once again see many different sides of him. And I love them all!

Nash, like in my other review, I have stated how much I wasn't sure about this character. How much I just don’t, and never did, like him. Throughout the book, all I wanted to do was beat him with a stick! I know he has been through a lot, he is confused, but all he seems to do is make mistake after mistake. Then when Sabine shows up, which even though she is a bitch I like her character, she really puts Nash in tights situations with Kaylee. From the get-go, she let everyone know she was there for Nash, and she wasn't backing down. Plus, she doesn't seem quite… normal… I like tough chicks, so I was able to enjoy this character, though at times, I just wanted to smack her for some of the crap she pulls. But she was an amusing character.

Things are once again happening around Kaylee, and even though she is conflicted by both heart and mind, she steps up to the plate and does what she can to protect those around her. With Tod by her side, she sets out to see just what is going on. People just don’t drop dead in their sleep.

This book was a ride full of all kinds of emotions, experiences, and sensations. I can’t believe just what all took place in one book! It left me reeling, and craving the next book. So, if you haven’t started the Soul Screamers series, please do, it is a book you can be consumed with. It is just amazing in my opinion!!

wow. I don't even really know what to say right now. My mind is in a million places at once and I don't even know where to begin. First of all, im pissed. Pissed off in the fact that my life has been a huge hectic piece of crap. I'm in the middle of moving and all I wanted to do was sit in my huge ass comfy chair and read until my eyes burned. But no!! I need to process this for a bit before I really review.. so um yeah, to be continued?

Updated
Alright! So im officially moved in and somewhat settled in. So now I can finally review this book properly. Where to start. Kaylee and Nash, ugh why am I getting extremely annoyed with these two. I get they went through this big demon breath thing, but come one Kaylee even you are far from perfect. Was it only me, but it not seem like Kaylee had a coke in her hand like 24/7? Every time she was having a conversation or trying to stay awake she was constantly drinking one. She's all worried about Nash getting over his Demon Breath addiction when it seem she was addicted to Coke. I get she was trying to stay awake but really? Hmmm now to talk more about the plot itself.

Sabine, the kind of girl we all love to hate. Why did I like her most times and completely hated her the rest? Oh right, she spoke the truth, every time. Not once did she not say something to Kaylee that wasn't true. It was like she would say exactly what everyone else was scared to say. Although, I will give Kaylee credit that she said some pretty truthful things back to her. Then when I hated her, she reminded me exactly of the attention whores in high school. Actions that were completely unnecessary on her part. But, this made her character keep this whole book pretty damn entertaining. I actually felt the pangs of jealously every time she was around Nash and said those sexual innuendos about him. As if Nash was my boyfriend.

Then comes Alec, I like this new character, he actually put a different twist into this book which I was really happy with. For once I liked having two different things happening during the story where eventually they all come together at the end. Why do I have a feeling that Alec and Emma have some secret chemistry there? In a way, I kinda like it!!

Tod. Tod Tod Tod. He was not in this book enough. I actually found myself missing him when he wasn't around. Then in the small moments when he would finally "pop" up I felt like a little school girl all giddy that he was there. Now I know most of you know what happens in the rest of the series but I,m loving him more and more.

Now I guess I should only continue. Why do I feel like I have to prepare myself for complete heartbreak? :( probably cause I do......

The cover:

Seriously, theses series has the best UK covers ever!! And if you read my previous reviews of the books, you’d already know that I love them all, but this one, is just amazing!! This is a UK e-book cover, I have no idea how it looks on e-readers but I’m sure it looks pretty cool :D.

The storyline:

My Soul to Steal has the most twisted storyline so far. It kept me anticipating what’s next. The introduction to new characters, in this case Sabine, was very good. As always, Rachel knows how to describe her characters very well along with their surroundings.

This story went smooth and was very good. Also, I was kind of happy I read Reaper just before this one, since they’re kind of related :).

What was unique about this sequel and which wasn’t in the previous books, was a lot of suspense. Sabine showing up just to make ruin what is already going bad for both Nash and Kaylee was killing me, and I kept just reading trying to figure things out, then I would stop, make my own conclusions then continue reading.

And unlike the previous sequels, the ending in MStS (My Soul to Steal) didn’t confirm or deny anything, in this case Nash and Kaylee’s relationship. It was weird and now I’m dying to read If I Die although I now know from the title that Avari is definitely going to have a big part in it.

The characters:

Kaylee, the main protagonist, is as always brave and strong. However, in this book, she really did upset me. She kept overreacting over stupid reasons. She was just weird this time.

Nash, well, poor Nash. He is weaker than usual, probably because of the Frost. He keeps apologizing to Kaylee and trying to bond the friendship again with Sabine while explaining to her that he is in love with Kaylee now. I hate this Nash because he’s so weak and has no idea how to pick up the pieces. He’s torn apart.

Tod kept showing up like he’s the hero in all of this. It’s true I’m a huge fan of him but this time I didn’t like him. He was acting weird.

I will also mention Avari, since he keeps popping up in this book. He is one hell of a hellion. He goes after what he wants and doesn’t give up at all!!! That’s why I’m 100% sure I’ll see him in If I Die.

I shall give credit to Invidia for all the chaos she caused. You’ll know more about her when you read the book ;).

The audiobook:

I read the previous books in the series as e-books but since My Soul To Take, I decided to have this one as both an audiobook and an e-book, which was awesome since I love audiobooks.

This audiobook was well narrated by Amanda Ronconi and she did a great job speaking as Kaylee :).

Conclusion:

I loved My Soul to Steal. It is super cool, twisted, fun and amazing.

I have to say, without a doubt, THIS book in the series has to be my favorite so far! Everything that has happened previously in the series has come to a head in My Soul To Steal. At least everything that involves Nash and Kaylee's relationship. If hellions, death and drug abuse was not enough to throw at this angst filled couple, then a supernatural ex-girlfriend could be the final straw.

I loved how the author paused the relationship of Nash and Kaylee in this book. It was needed after everything that has happened in the first three books. They both have some things that needed to be worked out and they couldn't do that together without pretending everything was okay. I felt such misery for Nash as he struggled for a second chance with Kaylee. I hurt deeply for Kaylee when the things going through her mind about Sabine might actually be true. I wanted to cry with her in bed and beat the crap out of Sabine at the same time. I wanted Nash to wake up and realize what the hell he was doing to Kaylee while he tried a friendship with Sabine. Most of all, I wanted to crawl up in Tod's lap and ask him to hold me through the whole story. I wanted him to be my Knight in Shining Armor and protect me from the emotional roller coaster the author was taking me on! Why did she have to pull at my very fine heart strings throughout this ENTIRE book?

If you have been following along with the reviews so far, you know that Kaylee never has a normal week. She is far from normal anyway. Yet, I can't hoping the author would give her some peace in this book. The peace Kaylee finds in this book is finally a backbone. I cheered for the way she finally stood up to people and put her foot down. I loved how she protected her new friend Alec and how she finally stood up to everyone who has been afraid she is too fragile to handle things. I was actually shocked to find that Nash had a backbone as well when he finally reached his breaking point of trying to win Kaylee's trust and heart.

Again, this has to be my favorite book of the series so far and I can't wait to dive into the next book. After all of the suspense that has building throughout the series, I can only imagine what the climatic story is going to be for the next book. If it is anything as thrilling as this one, I might just have to ask Kaylee for her backbone so I can make it through the entire story in one piece.

I have really enjoyed reading this series by Rachel Vincent and when Mira Ink asked me if I wanted to review the book as part of their blog tour I jumped at the chance and as soon as I received my copy I dove right in. My Soul to Steal introduces a few new characters into the story, one of the main ones being Sabine, Nash's ex girlfriend, who is also a Mara, a literal nightmare.

We continue straight on from the previous book, My Soul to Keep, and we see Kaylee still struggling with the actions of Nash and finding it difficult to trust him again, even when it comes down to singing for someones soul, she still doesn't feel like she can trust him.

Sabine is trying her hardest to make the chasm between Nash and Kaylee even bigger and is doing everything in her power to get what she wants, Nash. While Nash still sees some good in Sabine, Kaylee sees nothing but bad and is prepared to fight for Nash, even though she isn't sure that she wants him back.

Rachel adds so much emotion and feelings into the book it's hard not to have strong feelings of dislike or love for the characters.

From the moment Sabine is introduced I really disliked her. Her whole attitude towards others wasn't nice, and even though she is 100% honest with what she is doing and what she wants I really couldn't bring myself to like her. It wasn't till you get near the end of My Soul to Steal that you get to see the truth and why she acts the way she does, which makes me sympathise a small bit with some of her actions and her reasoning behind it.

However, although I want Nash and Kaylee to get their act together I was struggling with their issues myself. Part of me want to scream at Kaylee and tell her to make up her mind about Nash, and either end it, as it wasnt' right to keep Nash hanging on the tiny thread of hope that things could be alright again, or make up and start over again on a clean slate.

I am really liking how Todd and Alec are coming into their own personalities and we get to see them more, and after a few things that I reading My Soul to Steal, I can't wait to see what comes from it. I really enjoyed My Soul to Steal and was kept on tenterhooks with suspense, wondering what was going to happen next.

My Soul to Steal has upped the ante for the series and I really can't wait to read If I Die.

WARNING SPOILER ALERT!!!!This book made me conflicted a little. I feel like Sabine is a interferance and needs to back off. But towards the end you feel for her a little. I feel like Kaylee was wanting the best of both she didnt want Nash because she couldnt forgive him yet but didnt want anyone else to have him. I feel bad for Nash because though he let the demon take over kaylee she wasnt there for him as she should have been after or during. I also feel like Nash still has feelings for Sabine but loves Kaylee more. He wants Sabine for a Best Friend, It has to be hard on Kaylee. I also feel that in this book Todd has feelings for Kaylee and I cant wait for IF I DIE. Though at the end of the book Kaylee gives Nash another chance....is he really the one she should be with. Or is todd right when he said Nash and Sabine were better for each other. I cant decide. You always want whats best for the characters but it is hard because you know Nash cares and they love each other but you also think maybe Todd is who she ment to be with.

Well that was completely unsatisfying. I had high hopes after the third book finally turned this into a decent series but...

This is 350 pages of Kaylee being a whiny bitch. That's literally it. That's the book. Page 1- Kaylee sucks. Page 350- Kaylee still sucks. End of book.

We're introduced to Sabine in this one, Nash's ex girlfriend. Who I feel like I'm supposed to hate but I actually like her so incredibly much more than I like Kaylee that I was hoping the book ended with Sabine and Nash getting back together and Kaylee wasting away into nothing.

Perhaps in book 5.

PS: Tod remains precious, flawless, and better than your faves, god bless.
