Last and one of the best in the Barsetshire series.

This has been an excellent series and it is gòod that Trollope tidied up the loose ends in the last chronicle.

There are some slow stretches in the intervening chronicles between Barchester Towers and the Last Chronicle, but this makes up for it. In fact, you can probably just skip straight over the middle books unless you really like Trollope. I do.

I confess I've not read any of the others from this series, and its only because its on a list that I picked it up. I did wonder when I started, if it would all make sense and if I would need to grab the other books first, but it actually stood on its own quite well, although it may have been of some use to have the history of the characters. There were parts of the story I enjoyed but the main story of the clergyman and the stolen cheque, I found quite a slog. I did manage to read my way though all of this big read but my concentration did wonder on occasion, it felt like it could have been a much shorter read. I'm afraid it has not encouraged me to go back and start at the beginning.

I really love Anthony Trollope and I can forgive him almost anything except having to read about Lily Dale & Adolphous Crosbie again! :(

Otherwise I love this book, even though [b:Barchester Towers|125321|Barchester Towers|Anthony Trollope|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1387980968l/125321._SY75_.jpg|3299857] still remains my favourite book from the Barset series.
