I wanted to find this charming, but I just found it arch.

Couldn't finish - I thought this was going to be more about book culture and libraries, but it wasn't that at all.

I actually did not (could not that is..) finish this book. And I hate not finishing books. I just didn't get it at all.

The writing was a four and made me miss Tucson, but I wished for more character and plot to string the bits together

Way too intellectual for my liking -- was hoping for something much more fun and lighthearted and not so serious and wordy.

I read a little over half of the book. I really wanted to like it, and some chapters I did. But I don't have the luxury of time to keep reading something that feels like it will never end.

Not at all what I was expecting. Highly disappointed.

Disappointing! Not at all what I was expecting. It was more poetic than funny, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, except when you are expecting something else. Since I bought the book, I slogged through it. While there was some interesting tidbits in this book, it was more of a rambling.

More essays than poetry, but definitely had the poetry vibe to the writing. Focusing on old books and libraries, especially those that have been stashed away or are out of date, the book is a love letter to literacy. There were many quotes and ideas that struck a chord with me as a reader and is one of the few books I found myself recommending parts while I was still reading it, and not wait until the end. Though my favorite essays were Questions for Megatherium & Rhizomal.
