I liked the writing style for this episode a lot more than I did for the first episode. There was more focus on surroundings, more characterization, and it just read more smoothly.

We get to see more supporting characters introduced and their relationships with the two protagonists helped really expand the world. I think the body-modding bit is really intriguing and well pretty well explored in this episode, although there are some things that aren't still clear. We know that the specific mods they're talking about are a sort of tattoo, but it's never really specified as to what exactly makes it special, which is really important because the tattoos are vital to their investigation.

Following the investigation is still a little difficult, sometimes the connections that our detectives draw is not as clear cut to the reader, but the narrator just kind of assumes that it is. I wish it would be blunter when they draw a conclusion.

The development of futuristic Tokyo is really wonderful to see and I love the little pop-culture references that it makes. Now the crime is starting to make an organic connection to the setting, which is so vital. Sometimes the culture references seem a bit "weeby," but I did like the bit about the ukio-e prints and poetry so that it didn't sound like an anime/manga limited culture.

A much stronger continuation to the first episode.
