definitely a 5 star read. i loved this more than the first one. while it still doesn't show us a lot of what happened in the previous issue, it did give us more drama, intrigue, and like the first one, even more questions.

Dark, detailed, and compelling, it continues on with all of the strengths of the first issue while ironing out most of the complaints I had about it. Threads between the two timelines are beginning to appear, a dark cosmic plot is hinting to swell up around both, and some elements are being given teeth to add some real elements of danger to up the stakes for everyone. Meanwhile, the sense of mystery is only deepened and enriched.

Looking forward to the next issue.

Me gusta mucho como se compaginan las dos historias. Y me gusta mucho el personaje protagonista. La trama te atrapa de una forma automática. Me está pareciendo muy interesante.

We cut to Alice being interrogated by the police for her crime. But she is unable to talk about what happened, so her mother takes the fall. Alice goes into a facility for children, where her dollhouse appears, and she is the victim of Jenny’s cruel bullying. Jenny ruins Alice’s chance at a new home. Alice is supposed to visit her mom, but she learns there was an incident at the prison, and her mom didn’t make it. So Alice speaks the spell and enters the dollhouse, greeted by open arms. The black room offers her the chance to live there with a similar version of her mother, but to do so, she must kill Jenny. Alice politely declines. Jenny, having spied on Alice while she entered the dollhouse, whispers the incantation when Alice is preoccupied. And the house takes her.

We also get to see a flashback from 1826 of Kent, who went through a traumatic ordeal and is now declaring his love for the nurse, Charlotte. They marry, despite his parents' displeasure. Charlotte believes she is barren but finds she has become pregnant! She dies in childbirth, and while one of the servants goes to dispose of the afterbirth in the furnace, it is taken by a mysterious creature.

Both of these storylines are fascinating and scary; I find myself wanting to learn the mysteries quicker. The art of the house is terrific. The cover art is well done. It’s very eerie. I’m intrigued and ready for volume #3!
