The second part of the "Diogenes Trilogy" finds Pendergast and D'agosta getting themselves into all sorts of trouble. A Sherlock Holmes / Moriarty parallel is apt here, as the two brothers battle intellect to see which one will win out in the end.

Some great thrills here, although very little closure, as is, I suppose, to be expected in the second book of a trilogy. There were a few twists I didn't see coming, and I found the book to be a strong entry in the series (although I think BRIMSTONE and CABINET OF CURIOUSITIES are still better.)
