I started out thinking this could be my kind of book, but Lincoln’s obsessive and possessive nature goes too far. It reaches a point where some of the sex scenes could easily be classified as assault. I’m all for a dominant male lead, but his complete lack of regard for consent just ruined the book for me. Would not recommend.
TRIGGER WARNING.
Maybe this is too harsh, but I just feel I need to say it: I feel like the way it was written could really fuck with someone who is processing their own sexual assault. Because it’s all like “I tried not to enjoy it, but my body betrayed me”. But the facts are you can not want something and have your body still be aroused. It’s biological and something that happens more often than we realize. Which then makes survivors of assault feel like their claim of rape is invalid. Leads to internalized slut shaming and so on.
Maybe this level of dark romance is your vibe. But personally, I just can’t get behind tape disguised as love.

I heard some good things about this book so I decided to check it out on KU and read it in one sitting. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the dialogue and found it to be pretty cringey most of the time (both their texts and speaking aloud) and although I’ve read dark romances with similar taboo aspects like stalking, this book fell pretty flat for me plot wise which was really disappointing bc I was looking forward to reading it. I hated the insta-love since I hoped it would be more of a slow burn given the whole stalker part of the plot but within the first few minutes of them meeting in person (after texting each other and calling occasionally for about two weeks) she’s out here riding his thigh in public and it’s like ??? She didn’t seem like the type of person to do that from the beginning so it felt out of character for the fmc. I would recommend this book for someone looking for a quick romance that isn’t worried about the pace or ok writing and plot, but would personally not be rereading.
