This book is written in verse which is super fun. I think the author handle grief and hope in such an amazing way.

A really moving story about how deeply grief can affect a person and that it’s not always a clean process, it’s different process for everyone it affects. I enjoyed following the journey of the two sisters and their relationships with their friends and family and how grief and the inability to fully move on the both of them deal with it. I will say one of the important points in the story that involves the stepmother wasn’t explored enough given how important the topic is

A very heartfelt take on grief and loss and how it affects the relationships around us. I liked the sisterly bond, but I also felt that both sisters seemed a little bit too one dimensional. Maybe it was the writing style and the fact that it was written in a free poetic way, but I wasn’t as invested in either character. Maybe because I’m not the target audience, but I found the book to be almost too basic in its exploration of grief, I kept feeling like I wanted more.

I loved this book, because I was completely out of my comfort zone with this verse novel. It was beautifully written, especially with the grief theme, which isn’t easy to address. I just had difficulty to feel connected to the characters because I was sometimes lost in the chronology of the plot.
