I definitely recommend this one. It's a love story but not a romance novel or "chick-lit". There's more to it than that. And it keeps a good pace throughout the whole book - it always kept me coming back.

I grabbed the ARC of this one because of the Dennis Lehane blurb. I should've just waited for the sequel to Live By Night instead -- my favorite prohibition novel to date.

This one was fine, just kind of slow moving and boring. I kept setting it down and picking it back up long enough to read ten or twenty pages.

Loved this book. The author did a great job developing the characters and setting. The ending was a little predictable but overall very good.

A unique take on the familiar story of bootleggers and prohibition agents, with a natural disaster and a love story thrown in for good measure. Very enjoyable, I'd like to read more of Franklin's work.

I wanted to like this book much more than I did. It was just a bit predictable and treacle-y for me.

It was well-written, it had a setting I was interested, I liked lots of parts of it and parts of characters. But in the end, the inaccuracies were what irritated me and turned me against the book. Everything from as small as: supposedly a fox swam by with its tail quirked like a question mark (this is NOT how a fox’s tail lies when it swims; why even include that detail if you aren’t going to verify it?!) to the ridiculousness of supposedly easily making love with broken ribs and an un-set broken arm.

Lots of people appear to have loved this book, but it just wasn’t for me.

Continuing my TBR project:
This is one of the oldest selections on my TBR list - Originally added November 11, 2017.

Set against the backdrop of the historic 1927 flooding of the Mississippi River, The Tilted World is an extraordinary tale of murder and moonshine, sandbagging and saboteurs, and a man and a woman who find unexpected love.

Oh my gosh I loved the hell out of this book. It is cuter and lighter than expected, not as dark and gritty, which threw me off and I think didn't sit too well with some other readers, but that really only added to my enjoyment of it. Charming love story with really great characters. Full review closer to release.

3.5 stars- beautifully written, but dragged in a few places. I learned a lot, though- how have I never heard of this flood? And I was fully invested in the main characters' stories.

Wow! The worst thing about this book is that I don't have another Tom Franklin book to read right now. This is the second book I've read by him, the first being Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, and both of them were 5-star books. This book was so immersive, every time I had to put it down for a little while, I expected to look outside and see flooded dirt roads, mules pulling carts, and a model T cruising by. If you haven't read anything by Tom Franklin, stop what you're doing right now and go get one of his books.
