Terrible role modeling from our MC who hates girls, girly stuff, and anything to do with school. He calls other students nasty names (didn’t love explaining ‘brown-noser’ and why they aren’t allowed to call people that to my little brothers!) and the book uses every possible nasty word for people with mental health issues.
The whole series is “fun” for kids by teaching them how to be rude, unkind, and inconsiderate.
I’d have given it zero stars if that were an option.

This book (and I suspect the rest in the series as well) is *extremely* outdated and has not aged well. It depends on a LOT of false and really gross sexist stereotypes and stereotypes about how psychologists/scientists speak and conduct tests as well as just generally extremely shallow and not great portrayals of kids and what kids are capable of doing. Sure, it's a fast read and I guess could be fun for some, but my kid gives this zero stars and just really highly disliked it.

Why 3 stars? Both my kids have loved these books. Me, not so much, though sometimes they make me giggle though I wish I could control that reaction better.
