I liked the book enough to give it a 3.
But, the actions of the two girls frustrated me through the entire book.

It felt like every step of the way they would make the opposite choice of what would seem sensible.

Also, if your parent, your friends, AND a person you just met all say "he's bad news"... well, he probably is.

This book was focused around how a black girl and white girl survive the night when a riot errupts downtown and they are caught in the action. It was really well written and I loved that it was written from two different POV's by two different authors. I felt like racial inequality is always a really important issue and sometimes things like riots can be misunderstood or seen through a single lens. I enjoyed the fact that this showed a greater perspective, although to be fair it didn't delve deeply into anything.

I think this is a book was good but quite targeted to the youth market (fairly, it is YA). I would enjoy an adult fiction novel that dealt with similar issues but went into a bit more depth.

Great YA read about the current (unfortunate) climate of our country and the choices our teenagers must make and how those decisions could affect their lives for years to come. I loved the dual perspective from both girls and authors!
