2024 reread. My opinion remains about the same but I failed to mention how funny it is. I read this again so I could read the rest of the series. I'm curious to see where it goes

Original review: Definitely not perfect, but lots of fun. I feel like it relied a little too heavily on magic making things happen and every character that was introduced was blatantly brought into the story for the sake of the ending, but I did enjoy it. I liked the characters and I might be interested in reading further into the series.

Loved this as a kid. Totally forgot the story. Cute! Love that the princess is so independent and "doesn't need a man" to go against the usual trope. Can't wait for L to read.

WHERE has this book/series been all my life?! How am I 41 years old and only discovering it now?

I loved everything about this book. Cimorene, the dragons, Morwen, even the annoying Princes! I love how Cimorene refuses to sit in a pretty dress, embroidering and making polite small talk until her Prince Charming comes to marry her. She's determined to do things HER way, and I loved every minute of her journey.

If you have a young son or daughter who loves dragons and adventure, then I highly recommend this. This was first published in 1990 when I was 9/10, and I wish I had come across it then. I know a 9 or 10-year-old Mercedes would have adored this series.
