The zombie Alice thing was funny at best and repetitive normally. The ending was stupidly anticlimactic. This whole 1-d morality thing is hurting the series.

Through the Zombie Glass is the sequel to another book by Gena Showalter, Alice in Zombieland. When I first heard about these books, I was extremely excited, because, I love zombies, but I also love Alice in Wonderland. So I read it, and I enjoyed it. Alice in Zombieland is about a girl, Ali, whose parents and sister are killed in a car accident, and she sees them eaten by Zombies, which she later discovers are basically evil spirits of the dead. Then she discovers how to fight them, by exiting her body, making herself kind of a spirit. Then, in Through the Zombie Glass, Ali gets infected with a strange zombie venom, causing her to become half-zombie herself, and throughout the book, she's trying to fight the zombie inside. So, I really loved the first book. It had a unique take on zombies, which I loved,a pretty awesome girl I could root for, an adorable younger sister, and a pretty good romance. The one thing I didn't like though, is that she the author tries to pretend this has ANYTHING at all to do with ALice in Wonderland. The only similarities are the girl's name (Kind of.) and the fact it frequently mentions a white rabbit (Which is a cloud, so it doesn't exactly count.) I would love the first one, much more, if it didn't pretend to be Alice in Wonderlandy, because I'm a huge fan of Lewis Carroll, I was very excited about this plot, then I read it, and was just confused. What does this have to do with Alice? Anyways, in the second book, there was way too much romance. Way too much kissing and almost having sex. I like a little romance, but not that much, and not too many details. I enjoy the fluff. So while I did love the action and plot of Zombie Glass, I hated the sexual themes, and will not read the next one, if, indeed, there is a next one. This is my first review, and I just felt like doing this for this book. I'm sorry it sucks. Thanks for reading. :)

I was really looking forward to this, and unfortunately I was rather disappointed. I had a hard time getting into the book. The beginning was so slow and tedious, and it was just boring. A lot of things happened that just didn't make much sense, and I was lost within the first few chapters. There was very little action, and it seemed like the book was focusing on Alice and her heartbreak, which - sorry - wasn't very interesting. Her character went from kick-ass, to whiny and very damsel-esque. The main character in the second book was NOT the same character from the first book. I got so bored with the book, I skimmed through the middle half of the book, which is NOT me at all. I just couldn't stand the fact that there was pretty much NO ACTION. It was mainly Alice whining, and being all depressed, and throwing herself pity party after pity party. The ending of the book wasn't even that interesting, either. So, not sure if I want to read the next book in the series.

2.4 stars- barely based on lowlife characters and TSTL actions
Zombies hunters vs zombies and evil scientist.
This book sucked like a black hole
I loved the idea, the spirt hunting, the different abilities awakening and the possibilities. The action was there, I was on the edge of my seat more than once. But why bring in abuse, and ridiculous actions into the story. I was rolling my eyes at the jealousy, the he-slut moves and the stupid thinking of this girl.
Ali, stupid, hormonal virgin Ali. I cut bits of stars off for each completely stupid move Ali made. Ali, the special little snowflake acted like a brat. Taking matters into her own hands, after being warned it was a bad bad thing. She would run off into the fire and placed everyone in serious danger. I was generous and gave her a few free chips because of her age, she suffers from high school level hormonal drama.
Cole, the macho he slut was such a complete jerk. I'd beat him bloody with anything in reach if he treated my daughter that way or one of her friends. His character was repulsive and I worry that some young mind might find his actions ok. I thinking about cutting another star off right now. I was miffed that the author made his turdness acceptable to the group of slayers/friends. I would have liked to see a stronger character backlash, not the "oh he loves me so I'll forget everything" bit. He used girls, emotionally and physically and brushed it off like it was nothing, and this is the hero ? She looked into his eyes and saw longing making all he did disappear. REPULSIVE ! As I'm recapping my experience I'm getting angrier. I'm not sure I want to finish the series.
I do not find abusive characters entertaining, and even less so to a young character who might connect with a reader. I like the story, despise the direction of the characters. Ali is doormat that asked for more, her great love is a dirty pair of boots.

Otherwise good writing ruined by the main guy. Cole is an obnoxious version of your HS bf. He's overly jealous and super possessive, mine as well just call Ali a 'thing' and get it over with 🙄 but the way Ali didn't give in after he dumped her was impressive. She said told him he'd be back and he was and she was there to shoot him down every inch of the way. That's something you normally don't see in YA books.

I don't think I was quite as enamored with this as I was the first of the series. It's still fun, witty and I love the girl friendships in this. I like Cole, though his alpha male tendencies grate a bit more in this book than the previous. The world is still interesting and nuanced, and that is very cool. Ali is still flawed, but awesome. I think the intensity between her and Cole is rather...I don't know, too much, forced, off-putting? All of those? I can't really explain it but I'm not as 'shippy' with them. Could just be me though.

Over all, I will still read the next one to see where it all ends up. My guess is something with Ali's mom and Emma finally leaving.

At first I wasn't planning to read this book. Yes I really liked the first book, but I wasn't sure about continuing it. There were a few things I didn't like in the first book and I was worried it would be overly present in this one as well.
But then I saw this book (in hardcover) at one of the two ABC stores for a big discount, and then I just couldn't resist.

Now, the book!
I must say this one is way better than the first one. Of course not all is that good. For instance we still have the whole COLE OMG COLE!!!! stuff going on, which was an annoyance in the first book. Alice kept going on and on and on and on about Cole. Yes, we know you love him (not that you can say it), and that you want to kiss him to death, have his babies and marry him for life. But please, tone it down a bit.
In this book, the whole OMG COLE is my Life! is a bit toned down due to events happening. Now we have more angst and more drama. More on that when I get on the characters.
There is a new twist with Alice, not really a new power, but rather something more evil and more mean. Something that wants to destroy her life, her friends, her family, and this is one thing that made me up the stars a lot. I love Jekyll and Hyde (good and evil in one body) and I was really happy to see it in here.

Add to that, that it was well written. There was a lot of details about the transformation, about Alice spiralling downwards, not only physically but also mentally as her condition gets worse. I just felt at times like I was there, witnessing it all.

However there is still something I don't quite get. The zombies are unbeatable, the only way to truly kill them is by ashing them. Now I am still confused as to why the slayers are still kicking/maiming the zombies before ashing them. Isn't it way more effective and faster to just ash them and be done with it? Unless I missed something, it has been a long time since I last read book 1, so I might have forgotten some details.
But it was just silly at times how they hacked/slashed, the zombies just kept popping back and back, and only when the need was really there did they ash the zombies.

Now for the characters.

Alice, oh Alice, silly and impulsive Alice. Not listening to people that much, taking stuff too much, doing too much while you should have just laid down and stayed down for a while. Of course things go wrong, gee, how come?
Still I loved her, she is still one of the most kick-ass characters I have read about and she is still a favourite.
Kicking zombies asses while in spirit form, ashes them to a true death like a champ.
I just hope for her sake that she can relax soon. Losing her parents, her sister, her grandpa, various friends, and in this book various other people. She deserves a big vacation somewhere far away from this all. Of course together with Cole, because well otherwise she would be lonely. :)
Her affection for Cole was like I said earlier, still very much present at times to nauseating levels. And when she was with Cole the conversations often bordered on almost 18+ stuff.

Cole, ah Cole. You fricking idiot. Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Not trusting your girlfriend eh? Oh, she has a vision about another guy, let's just assume that she is digging him instead of you. Not even questioning or just keep on hoping that it might be something totally different. *rolls eyes* Of course he keeps a very close eye on her, and can't seem to leave her alone, even though he is now with another girl. Drama, so much unneeded drama.
I also didn't like his hot/cold attitude towards Alice. At times he would be very sweet, and I really loved him, but other times he was just a dick and I wanted to kick his ass.

Gavin and Veronica, two characters that I just couldn't like. Gavin was someone I started to like very very late in the book, but in the beginning I couldn't stand him. How he treated women, as toys, as something he could just play with.
But we also see another side of him, a caring and helpful side. A protective side.

There is a whole lot of action in the book next to the drama. The zombies are still very freaky. I mean, zombies that you can see are already scary, but invisible spirit zombies that can just suck you dry????? Nope, Nope NOPE!!!

Then we have the whole evil company that captures zombies and does tests on people. I do hope we will see them going under in the next book. I also hope that during this war against them that we don't lose to many of the characters. After two books I am really liking most of them and I don't want to see them die.

Also big big plus points for the awesome cover!

All in all this was one hell of a ride and I would really recommend it. Me? I am going to hunt for the third book and buy it. I want to know what happens!!!

I liked some of the ideas presented to us in this one, but so much of it fell flat for me. I was actually bored through a bunch of this, and I'm honestly just not the biggest fan of the romance.
