Ok, so, if you’ve read my view of The Light of The Jedi and The Fallen Star, you’ll know that I did not like the direction that they took for phase 1. I missed a lot by not reading the comics, I do not care if they are good, I just do not want to read them. I want to read the books, and that’s it. Periodt. And I hated that last book. This book was almost the opposite, a solid story that was, well, at least mostly thought out, (a few slip ups in plot work) but the characters were well written enough to forgive those small mistakes, and the drive of the story was enough to carry me through. The build up of the main baddies in this book actually made me feel like it was a challenge (compared to the fallen star, where I just did not care about what was happening because there was no any backstory so why should I care). I also disagree with the decision to include lgbtalphabet nonsense characters to every single piece of media, but I am grateful that this book didn’t really shove it down our throats like all of phase 1 did. Anyways, a solid 4 star book,  second best book to The Light of the Jedi, and I am actually excited going forward knowing what the are facing. (Also I’ve got my eye of the Temptation of the Force;))

What a way to kick off Phase II of the High Republic. This book is somehow funny and light, while also being a complete gut punch. I once again got attached to characters that I shouldn't have. The writing of this book is also just fantastic, and so far it's been the best book I've read in Phase II.

After spending so much time getting to know the Phase I characters and stories, I was apprehensive about a prequel timeskip, especially knowing that would bring in EVEN MORE characters to get to know, but Tessa and Justina did an incredible job of captivating me and hooking me in right away. I instantly felt connected with the story and characters. I would say that I’m a little shocked they had a character death this early, but this is THR after all! Anyways, I think this was a really great intro to Phase II of THR and I cannot wait to see where this section of the story goes—and I’ll be keeping my eye out for easter eggs to Phase I!
