The writing in most of these stories leaves a lot to be desired, but Corben's art is just gorgeous. Dark Horse did an amazing job of reproducing it for this edition, an especially impressive achievement considering how difficult it was to print from the original films (now long since destroyed).

What to say about Richard Corben? His career spans thriller comics, gothic horror, graphic slasher horror, sci-fi, fantasy, erotic art, collaborations with writers, his own stories. The stories are sometimes hoaky, pun-based twists, sometimes genuinely terrifying, always drawn in an art style that swings curiously between beautiful, realistic painting and bizarre, childish anatomy. One thing it never is: boring.
