Really struggled to finish. Can’t explain why, really. But the stories didn’t really grab me. There were some good ones, though.

This is a very lovely collection of short stories set in Barbados. It was also very well narrated, with sound effects that make it seem like a complete audio production, which was very nice except for a few times when the volume of the effects overshadow the narrator’s voice.

I really liked that the stories had a good range with respect to their subject matter and moods. There are fun, witty, heartwarming stories here as well as serious, sad ones.
I didn’t like that a few of the stories felt unfinished and not in a cliff hanger type of way.

If I had to choose a favorite story out of this collection, it will hands down be ‘The Five Day Death of Mr Meers’ (hoping I spelt his name correctly *audiobook problems* lol). The first story was also remarkably funny and I really loved all the stories told through the POV of a child.

I look forward to reading a full length novel by her.

This short story collection of Bajan stories was great and what made it fun and special to me was listening via audiobook where I heard the bajan dialect. Each of these stories touched on serious topics which exist in Barbados as I am sure that they do all around the world.
