It’s everything I wanted in a novel and more. Just wholesome and heart warming and perfect.

It's not a swoonworthy romance novel. It’s neither spicy nor dramatic. It’s rather true to the realities of people looking for other people to spend their lives with, quirks included. Written 1978 and all things considered, it still reads surprisingly modern.

I’ve met a bunch of nice people on these pages. They’re interesting enough to stay entertained and standard enough to find pieces of yourself in their musings. I liked Misty the most. She is closed of and hard to get. She struggles to let others in. She’s difficult and breaks ground for other women being „difficult“ (aka not being as their partners expect them to be). Vincent is just good hearted and a tad foolish. Holly is her own very self-efficient woman and Guido is a bit all over the place.

Overall it’s a bit quirky, quite funny and rather honest in the portrayal of „boring“ relationships. It’s one those stories that goes beyond marriage and that is just excellent. For me, too many stories just end there!

this is just a delight. a breath of fresh air from all the pessimistic tendencies of life (my usual taste). upper-middle-class-urban-domestic-bliss, who knew i'd gobble that up.

endearing and intelligent characters whose complexities not only make them feel real but also make you feel seen. it's warm and cozy but also incredibly profound and human. it almost makes you question what were you so scared about loving and being loved for????

anyways....

i just want to bathe in the warm haze that is this book.
