The Lorna Dane arc was fun, but everything else is really episodic and disjointed.

- This one doesn't have the best stories, but I still enjoyed it.
- I want more Juggernaut.
- Angel's costume is awful!! The colors and the suspenders just kill me!
- I the love the illustrations and the scenes. The artists are awesome.
- Magneto looks crazed in a lot of the panels. He needs to tone down the angst.
- The intro in the the front has spoilers!! Dang it Roy!
- There is no way these characters are teenagers. They have jobs, they are ripped, and no teen's body is structured like that.
- The origin stories of Iceman and Beast were really fun to read. I like learning about the character's history and facts.
- At the end of the book, there are a series of Angel comics. He goes on a solo adventure. I liked it, but I thought Angel was way too intense.

The Problematic:
Other than the usual WASPyness and mild sexism, I thought that the Lorna (alleged daughter of Magneto) story was a little untrue to life. Lorna, mere moments after learning of her powers and lineage, decides to follow and obey her supposed father merely because of their genetic relation..ethics and morals be damned! How preposterous. X-Men is obviously a story all about chosen family.
The Bad:
Finding less things to nitpick at as this series progresses. I would say the main flaw of these issues is that the art, while constantly improving in terms of how it conveys action to the reader, it isn’t moving as briskly as the deescalating narrations that were constantly filling the reader in. So occasionally there will be some action occurring that’s hard to understand and with no narration to accompany it.
The Good:
My patience has paid off! The constant, incessant narration has finally started to die down. Plot points, scene transitions, and character moments are being conveyed through dialogue and art more and more. We also have our first official crossover event as the Avengers step in to assist the X-Men in defeating Magneto. Jean Grey becoming increasingly more powerful is pretty cool and feels earned. The issues really flow together for the most part with almost no episodic content thrown in, and the back issue origin stories are still pretty easily digestible and provide some nice little background for our heroes. I noticed more nuanced page layouts beginning on issue #49 and was pleasantly surprised. And nearly all of the issues in here had to do with mutants, mutantkind, and their place in the world.

Not that much to say about this one that isn't applicable to its predecessors: mainly composed of one-offs, by which I mean dealing with villains you'll probably not see or hear of ever again.
It contains one plot concerning Lorna Dane which was quite interesting, issues 49 through 52. Issue #50 is especially beautifully drawn, the cover page alone is a piece of art in my opinion (Jim Steranko rules!).
So, if you have a chance, read that and maybe the origin stories of Beast. Might also want to take a look at the solo stories concerning Angel starting page 252. They were published in the back pages of 1970 Ka-Zar and Marvel Tales series so they're are not self-standing issues. However, they do makes an short incursion into Warren's life, if you're interested in knowing more about his background.
The rest I cannot reveal without some spoilers. :P
