If you enjoy math, then this story may resonate more with you than it did for me. Perhaps its because I didn't understand the math, but this was a solid, well written story, but just didn't hit me. It was still engaging enough for me to keep reading and want to read more of Yoko Ogawa's other work. I also enjoyed the examination on love in its forms and relationships through the themes and situation. But it just didn't hit me--like it was supposed to be deeper than it was and I just didn't get it. If math is your jam, along with heartwarming tales of friendship and growth, then perhaps consider it. I read it for free at a library, and that's probably the reason why the score isn't lower.

this book simultaneously healed me and broke me. I started crying after finishing it (not the reason you think). so wholesome, so SO precious. the relationship dynamic is one of the best things I've read in a long while. they'll live in my head for a long time, if not forever. 😭

Stumbled across this book randomly in a local library and glad I did. It was such a heartwarming, touching book. I felt so deeply for the professor and I loved all of the characters in their own way, although they were so different. The math facts throughout actually made me more interested in the subject although I've never been, because I could really see them through the  professor's eyes. A beautiful, perfect, sweet, gut wrenching book I would recommend to anyone
