I really enjoyed the dual story telling aspect of this book! I'm a fan of layers, especially in fantasy novels, and this book delivered on that front. I would have liked to give this book 5 stars, but I couldn't. Why? There are too many characters whose names all sound/look similar (so many T names!). I also thought the plot ever so slightly unnecessarily complicated by all the dual identities/body switching. That being said, I really did enjoy this book. :) I look forward to reading the next one!

Pacing is horrific and it’s so dull. Maybe I just really hate an MMC? Who knows! *shrug*

That book had been sitting on my shelf for months before I decided it was finally time for me to pick it up… Do I regret not reading it sooner? ABSOLUTELY.

I don't give a lot of 5 stars but I fell completely in love with this one. 💕

🐉

For starters, the main character is blond with blue eyes and a prince at that! And who am I to deny another one of those sweet angels a place in my heart? This is what we call "being weak for pretty faces.".

You can also thanks the peculiar structure of the book, which charmed me all along, for this rating. It is a retranscription of what happened to the MC, Kihrin, written by a third party, who never refrains himself from commenting what is happening using footnotes, mainly thanks to a recording of a conversation between Kihrin and his Jailer.

It was my first time reading a book with a structure such as this one and it felt pretty amusing even if confusing at times. Indeed, the jailer tells the story of the MC from the beginning while the prisoner (MC) tells his story starting from the middle, giving us two stories in one.

Nevertheless, it was still rather easy to follow and understand what was going on —and I loved reading the writer's thoughts and remarks throughout the whole story!

I might not be very objective if I say the book was adorable, because I was blinded by all those walking cuties, but I can guarantee you that it was funny and I had the time of my life reading it!

I consider a lot of the characters to be sweethearts, even if some could come out as assholes at the beginning, and I'm extremely curious to see how the 4 next volumes are going to unfold –and Kihrin bisexual awakening. 👀

It started off strong, but lost steam quickly.

Finally! Finished it this morning in a mad sprint. I enjoyed it for the most part but, tbh, I'm not that keen to keep reading thr series. I'm just tired of multi book series at this point and something as dense as this over several books just gives me a headache. I think I'm going to give the fantasy a nice long break after this.
