This book highlights the dangers of 21st century technological parenting and the harmful effects it can have on our children.... In all seriousness though, this book is hilarious. It paints the picture of a little girl who thinks she's famous because of all the attention she gets from her parents through a lens. Such a cute find.

This book is the absolute cutest. I adore it!

I love her attitude and the way her fame is explained through the book.

A must have!

Thanks to the Kid Lit Exchange for the review copy of this book. As always, all opinions are my own.

Rarely does a first skim of a book bring me so much joy, but I smiled through every page turn when I opened I AM FAMOUS at the post office last week.

I AM FAMOUS features a toddler triple threat—she sings, she dances, she acts, and everyone in her family is there for it. She was born famous, with her every move captured in photos and on video. She calls the shots, and her parents are (mostly) happy to fulfill her every wish.

On the night of Grandpa’s birthday party, she is naturally the main attraction. It’s a full house, but when our diva falls during her big moment, she must figure out if she has a future in the business.

The protagonist of I AM FAMOUS is just the right amount of sassy. We get that her stardom is both a delight and a problem for her paparazzi parents. The authors have done a wonderful job of staying on the safe side of a character that could have easily tipped over into seeming spoiled rotten.

Lots of kids—not just girls—will relate to the storyline of wanting to be the center of attention. The way Kiely is revered in her family is the way many first-born kids are brought up—followed by cameras, showered with special treatment, and with no shortage of special treats.

Many parents worry about what will happen to our center-of-the-universe kids when they are finally faced with adversity. I AM FAMOUS gives one possible antidote: No matter what happens, our family will always love us.

Kiely, a young curly-haired brown-skinned girl, believes she is a celebrity, and why wouldn't she? She's an actress, a singer, a dancer, and she even has the paparazzi following her around, photographing and video recording everything she does. Naturally, being such a famous person, Kiely is asked to perform at her Grandpa's birthday party - and to a packed house no less. But will her fans desert her when she forgets the words to the song she's singing, or when she falls during her dance number? This is a fun, very tongue-in-cheek story that my young readers really enjoyed, they even got the irony of Kiely believing she's famous because of the fuss made over her by her family. But the story isn't all sunshine and attention - there are some all too realistic scenes of parental frustration, annoyance, and even anger at their diva daughter, which I'm sure every parent has experienced at one time or another. In the end, though, it comes down to the unconditional love Kiely experiences and her mishaps at Grandpa's birthday could be seen as the universe keeping things in balance. The bright digital illustrations add much to the story, and really capture the changing expressions on everyone's face. A fun book that my Fancy Nancy fans loved.

With all the videos and photos her parents have posted online and all the things that have been purchased for her and all the things other people do for her, Kiely has concluded that she has been famous since she was born. The illustrations are beautiful and fun. A new Fancy Nancy.
