I wish there were snippets of Eve's diary at the end of this book as with the 1st 2!

And I need to read book 4 now to find out why her parents are there!

I am really enjoying this series. The Morganville Vampires brings you back to the terrifying world of vampires. Leaving behind the Edwards, and Erics, and Bills. This book was a quick interesting read that I read in about four hours. The book is suspensful and full of twists. I do however, get annoyed with the ever, trouble making Monica. For a world where your actions cause you to pay at such high stakes, I find it unbelieveable that such a devious personality has remained unharmed, well I suppose that isn't really true. However, she grates my patience because of her never ending ability to deny fault, or take accountability for her actions. Although, I feel that the only character to develop in this book is Clare, I cannot help but wonder the real intentions behind Micheal or Shane's actions. The trouble that Claire seems to find is never ending.

This series is very addictive.

I needed a vampire story for a challenge, so I re-read this one.

And here I thought that Claire would grown and mature after the first 2 books, that perhaps her naivete would turn into -some- cleverness? alertness? live up to her -creator's- design to be a "physics geek" that actually "gets" physics?
Unfortunately her character is a centrepiece for the evolution of the others around her. Everyone else is more interesting and more elaborate.
Disappointed.

At least I know the shithole Texas town wasn’t random. That was really bothering me lol.

I’m thinking I shouldn’t have doubted Rachel Caine. I’ve only read her Great Library series (which immediately shot to the top of my all time favorites) but I already held her in such high esteem I wondered how these books came about. But every book seems to build on what the previous ones started. And while they’ll probably never be in my top 200 or anything, I’m diggin them. Also, maybe I just don’t love vampires lol.

Claire continues to do Claire things - running off on her own, putting herself in danger, etc.
Shane is still a dick, but decreasing in small amounts.
Michael is really getting the hang of the vamp life.
Eve felt more filler than anything in this one.
Monica is trying to force her way into Claire’s life, and that surely can’t mean anything good.
Crazy Jason pops in and out a few times, stabs someone, no big deal.

Amelie’s got Claire working with a very old vamp who is sick, and it’s quite dangerous, but if they don’t find the answers it appears all the vampires are going to have Big Problems.

Oliver’s angle seems to be a bit more clear in this one, and man I really don’t like him. Power hungry mansplaining vampire - as if regular mansplaining mortals aren’t bad enough.

And we end with a definitely not pleasant surprise visit…

Having read the first two books of the series, I was looking forward to reading this one because I wanted to see how the Morganville story progresses. I totally did not see the whole thing coming about the fact that the vampires were dying and sterile... but loved how the plot played out. There's still the *itches from the school that Claire has to deal with and does and I love how she grew some guts with Myrnin, Amelie and the *itches. While this isn't some stellar piece of art, this book and the series are very entertaining so far and with Clair's parents moving to town, things just became alot more interesting for sure. The entire series is on my list of books to read (along with many other books), but I think for a teen (which I am not) the series is a great read.

This twist that the Vamps are dying and Amelie is searching for the cure and using Claire to get it. So Claire is supposed to be super smart and goes from meh classes to challenging classes... the author has her taking the crystals that are supposed to be a precursor to the cure from what I gather and in the end, her frenemy takes them too and nearly dies. Something definitely special about Claire for sure as she took more of that stuff and it didn't affect her like it did the frenemy.
