Has potential, but that's not enough...

I bought this book based off what seemed like an interesting plot. It's nice to see something in the Kindle store that isn't zombie-related or a rip-off of Twilight (which doesn't even count as being part of the horror genre, but I digress). It was nice to see something different, or so I thought. I just could not get into the story though.

And the reason for that was the numerous spelling and grammatical errors. I can forgive a few. But when the author can't even spell one of his main character's names right from the first page, we're going to have issues. There is absolutely no excuse that Brian is misspelled Brain on the first page and several other times throughout the story. And there are more errors on almost every page.

I know some readers might forgive errors like this, but for me it's just too distracting. It pulls me right out of the story. If you feel this way, too, avoid this book. At least until the author cleans up the text and releases an updated version.

As for the story, it was interesting and has promise, but needs some work. Three boys at a summer camp decide to meet up with some girls for some fun, but wind up in a nightmare. Making it longer with some added character development would make for a far more interesting story. As it is, all we know about the characters are their names and that one may be gay. Not a lot to go on and not a lot to care about. You need to care about the characters to make the book worth reading.

I dislike giving negative reviews, but I also try to find something positive in a story that wasn't as good as it should've been. One positive thing I can say about the book is that the descriptions of the gore create some pretty vivid images. That's enough to give it two stars. But that's not enough to make it worth purchasing this book. Hopefully Noah Patterson's writing will improve and I'll have another author I enjoy reading stories from.
