Trigger Warning: drogas, abuso emocional, abandono.

Trigger Warning: drug abuse, emotional abuse, abandonment.

"The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly" is a cute and sweet story about a waitress at a medieval-themed restaurant.

The book takes place in a short time, and even if it feels like many things are going on, it really drags at some points.

I wanted to like it more but unfortunately, I didn't connect with Kit. I get it, she's an empowered girl but there is no reason to care about Kit’s role at the restaurant, it's a job she doesn't want, with awful people except a few friends. I know she is fighting for equality, but she could pick any other battle with more depth and the story could be the same.

Regarding the romance, I'm all for friends to lovers, but this book also falls flat on that front. I'm not sure if it was the pacing but it felt rushed and very slow simultaneously. There was no chemistry or romantic development at all -and it's not even insta-love since she's been crushing on the guy for years-.

A little nitpicky but there are so many pop culture references that I've got the feeling, that this book will feel outdated very soon.

By the time the book was over, several plot lines were left unresolved and others were suddenly fixed. Making it a frustrating read.

In my opinion, this book had a great premise but didn't live up to it.

Most of the stars are for Kit and Jett's romance, which made me realize how much I love "mutual pining best friends but we can't be together because it will ruin our friendship, to lovers".

Still baffled how they got Kit as a nickname for Courtney.
