giuliagulia's review against another edition
3.0
This book is not exactly what I was hoping for. I have read a few of Walcott's works, in general with a lot of enjoyment, but this book was something else. I should start by saying that I don't love Peter Doig's work. The problem I found was that many of the poems were descriptions or interpretations of Peter Doig's paintings. I did not find neither the subject matter of the paintings nor Walcott's interpretations particularly interesting. But Walcott does have an incredible mastery of language. The language in this book, as in Walcott's work in general, is very good. The book wasn't my cup of tea, but I could see how it might be someone else's.
