OMG this series just keeps getting better! I totally did not see the ending coming, but it really makes me want to dive right into the next book to see how it's all going to turn out. Glad I have it already and don't have to wait!! :)

This one really hurt. I think it's rather refreshing that B isn't great at everything. Some stories, the heroine discovers her powers and suddenly, she's great at everything and everyone falls in love with her. There is some of that in here, but B is not infallible. Heading right into the next installment!

Ok it’s time to wrap up this story. Both main characters are selfish... but I find the world interesting and really like a couple side characters

Oh hey, I want you back and want to be eternal with you forever...but wait! No I don't! We should think about this. Lord, get it together and don't get all Twilight-y on me.

This has to be some kind of fluke...I don’t like action/adventure/history types of books. I’m not drawn to books that deal in ancient history or just old stuff in general. I usually find it boring...But for whatever reason, I continue to DEVOUR the books in this series...which is in large part about finding a hidden library. I know! It sounds boring but its not! The mystery coupled with the paranormal aspects and the romance, come together to make a really compelling story that I can’t stop reading once I get started.

The Force of Wind picks up right where This Same Earth left off. Beatrice and Gio have a lead on where her father may be as well as the mysterious book Lorenzo wants so badly. They travel to their good friend Tenzins “home” and are welcomed by the Eight Immortals. Really OLD vampires who are extremely powerful, wise and respected. They find what they are looking for...but finding their prize doesn’t answer any of their questions or make things clearer for them, if anything it only makes things that much more complicated and confusing.

This is going to sound a bit crazy considering the subject matter of these books and the nature of some of the characters, but one of the things I really love and appreciate about these books is how realistic and authentic they feel. Yes it is a series that deals with vampires and magic and elemental manipulation. But as far as the actions and reactions of all the characters and they way they behave, interact with one another, their emotions, strengths and weaknesses....those things all feel weirdly REAL. If it weren’t for the bloodsuckers and everything that comes with their existence, I could believe that some of the events that occur in these books were actually happening in real life. That may be why its so easy for me to get lost in these books. Because even though they’re obviously fiction, they’re realistic enough that I get lost in it and feel like these are real people and I just HAVE to see how everything is going to turn out.

In The Force of Wind we get to see just how ruthless and determined Lorenzo is. He does some insane things in this book and it makes me nervous for whats to come. If he’s willing to do what he did....what’s to say he isn’t ready and willing to do ANYTHING. He knows things...dangerous things that can get the people I care about into deep trouble and I don’t know if I can handle him having that much power. I just want him GONE!!...

I was most impressed with Beatrice in this book. The usual trend in books that have a vampire/human pairing is that the human wants to become a vampire and that decision is usually centered around their lover. Yes it’s a personal choice but the reasoning behind it rarely ever goes beyond the fact that they don’t want to continue to get old while their lover stays frozen in time and they want to be with them forever, blah blah blah...I respect Beatrice because while Gio was a contributing factor in her decision...he’s wasn’t the sole reason for it. In fact, Gio is very AGAINST Beatrice’s decision to sacrificing her life and become a “monster.” But at the end of the day its not his decision to make. It was refreshing for once to have a character who actually thought about the decision they were making and had valid and convincing reasons. I really do love Beatrice.

A few things were revealed which could be catastrophic for all parties...but I have to say I’m not even surprised. With characters like Lorenzo, sleaze ball of the century, you have to be ready for and expect anything. Nothing is sacred, no one is safe, everyone has an ulterior motive and no one can be trusted. That’s how I feel about these books and I LOVE IT.

Very high 3. There are some themes that are repeated Book to book which isn’t my favorite but I do enjoy these and they’re fast reads.
